Every professional at Practical Computer Applications (PCA) dedicates most of his or her time to working directly with our clients. Tripp Micou

Founder & President

Tripp Micou founded Practical Computer Applications (PCA) in 1992 with the vision to develop a consultancy that solves real business needs — the way they should be done, and will be done in the future over the Internet.  Prior to PCA, Mr. Micou was a partner at Cardwell-Micou, a database consulting firm. Previously, Tripp managed PC software builds for Digital Equipment Corporation, and was a Graduate Fellow at the Hughes Aircraft Company from 1984 through 1987.

Mr. Micou holds a BS from The University of Michigan with Honors and a Masters of Science in Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Kent Summers

Managing Partner

Mr. Summers joined PCA in January 2005 to lead business development planning and management activities. Prior to PCA, he was a Partner with Garofalo & Associates LLC, a Boston-based investment banking boutique that provides sell-side M&A advisory services to early- and mid-stage technology companies.  From 1991 thru 2001, Mr. Summers served as Chairman & CEO of Collego Corporation (acquired by MRO Software), founder and CEO of MyHelpdesk, Inc. (acquired by PC Support, Inc.), and VP of marketing at Electronic Book Technologies (acquired by INSO Corporation).  Prior to the software industry, Kent worked in the securities industry in New York as a technology analyst at EJV Partners LLC and program trader on the Options Trading desk at Bear Stearns & Co.

A graduate from the University of Houston (BA), Mr. Summers is a co-founding member of the World-Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Technical Advisory Board (MIT 1994), and served as a Director of the X Consortium and OASIS.  Mr. Summers is an active Mentor with the MIT Venture Mentoring Services program, is a Board Member and advises a number of early-stage software companies in the Boston area.

Indra Sugianto

Partner, Principal Engineer

Mr. Sugianto joined PCA in 1999, and is responsible for managing client projects within manufacturing, health care, automotive and financial services industries.  Indra is heavily involved with gathering and assessing business requirements and recommending appropriate solutions to client needs.  He is expert in business process optimization, database modeling and UI design domains.  Mr. Sugianto’s project management and leadership skills — combined with deep technical acumen, attention to detail and professional integrity — continue to exceed PCA clients’ needs and expectations.

Mr. Sugianto earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Trisakti University, Jakarta, Indonesia and M.A. in Computer Science from Boston University.   Indra was named a Partner at PCA in 2010.

Marc Thevenin

Director of Engineering

Mr. Thevenin joined PCA in November of 2005 to lead software development and quality control practices.  He brings more than 15 years of experience in various software engineering disciplines.  Prior to PCA, he delivered business software solutions at both custom and pre-packaged software product companies including: SunGard BSR, EF Educational Tours and UUA. He is a highly-accomplished database and application design architect, and oversees PCA’s engineering team and quality testing functions.

Mr. Thevenin holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Emmanuel College of Management and served as the co-chair of the Technology Committee of the Mass Biotech Council. Marc remains active in the Boston software development community through mentoring and instructional lectures.

Viktor Vajda

Director of Project Management

Mr. Vajda joined PCA in May 2007 as a Senior Developer.   Previously, he worked as research faculty at Boston University’s Biomedical Engineering Department.  As one of only two full-time software professionals in the department, he was heavily involved in the design and creation of 3D data visualization applications, dynamic, data-driven web applications, parallel large-scale computing, biological and mathematical modeling, and bioinformatics database design initiatives.

Before joining Boston University as full-time faculty, Mr. Vajda received a B.S. and M.S. in Computer Systems Engineering from BU’s College of Engineering, and had worked for over six years on several long-term grant-funded projects in the Biomedical Engineering’s Hearing Research Center and Electrical and Computer Engineering’s Very Large Scale Integration (VLSI chip design) laboratory.

Andrew Pandre, Ph.D.

VP of Data Visualization

Dr. Pandre joined PCA in 2010 to lead research, development and implementation of Client-facing Data Visualization and Data Analytics solutions.  Andrew brings 25+ years of industry experience to PCA across as diverse set of innovative technologies and business practices, including software architecture, design & development, Business Intelligence, Data Visualization and Visual Analytics.

Prior to PCA, Dr. Pandre worked as a Director of Software Development at Perillon Software, IntelliReach and GeoTrust and held senior technical leadership positions at InterSystems, ESRI and IBM. Andrew is blogging at least once a month at our PRACTICAL Blog.

Andrew earned a Master of Science degree in Mathematics from Moscow State University, and a Ph.D. from All-Union MIS Research Institute, Moscow.
