Proof of Concept (Prototype)
Your team may have a new idea for a database application. But, even with the best plans, there can be uncertainty as to whether a new design will actually do what is desired. New designs often have unexpected problems that only appear when they are actually in use. Unfortunately, the problems can be very expensive if they are discovered after the engineering expense is made.
Practical Computer Applications (PCA) can build a proof-of-concept or prototype of your database application. You can explore design alternatives, test theories and confirm performance prior to starting development. End users can try a prototype and offer feedback to make the final product better.
A major advantage of using a prototype is that it can eliminate communications problems between the designers and the developers. Instead of creating a stack of documents that can be misinterpreted, it is possible to use a prototype to tell developers to “create this.”
Whether or not you use PCA for your development services, PCA can build your prototype application and/or data structures as a proof of concept. Prototypes are also an integral part of our process (Step 2: Prototype Design Phase).
